Joy of the season couldn’t have been more apparent as a sample of the students in the Williamsport Area Middle School After-School Art Program celebrate their winning the first annual Festival of the Trees competition recently in the Pine Square Plaza outside the Brickyard Restaurant, 330 Pine St. Their decorated tree won most votes based on the largest proceeds given it in the contest of 10 trees, according to Justin Simpson, city recreation director. The contest was sponsored by Williamsport Area Business Association, the city and the restaurant. It began during the Home for the Holidays event before Thanksgiving. Winning proceeds go toward the art program, Simpson said.
